September Design Team Challenge: #PaperLove Wall Art

The mandate of the Ivy League Design Team
(the fab name we gave our DT),
is to create paper crafting projects of their own choosing that
showcases Ivytree Studio's Print&Play Collections.
They absolutely have the freedom to create whatever they like/love.
But we thought it would be a good idea to shake things up a bit
by introducing a DT Challenge now and then.

And the ladies have stepped up beautifully to the recent challenge we set for them.
They each had to create a piece of #PaperLove Wall Art.

The challenge was to use elements from our new Print&Play Collection - "Vibrance",
along with a favorite quote or Scripture verse, to create an encouraging piece of
Wall Art that could be framed in a 200 mm x 250 mm frame.

Here is a little pop-up gallery of their efforts:

They really are lovely projects, and I wouldn't mind
receiving any of these pieces as a gift myself.

A project like this is so fabulously easy too.
Just get yourself some Print&Play goodies and make it happen.
A bit of printing, a little snipping, some stenciling or splashing paint,
& a smidge of gluing...and there you have it!

As I said, it's a great gift idea, especially with Christmas around the corner.

What are you waiting for...get creating!

The Vibrance Collection can be purchased here.

"Precious Moments" five different ways!

Dear Paper Lovers,

Today we would like to share with you how uniquely we all are created. Each one of us born with a unique thumbprint. When we create, even when we use the same basic concepts or elements, the outcome will be as varied as our thumbprints.

We gave the Design Team each the same printable kit to play with and we all came up with something different.

The sketch:

Purchase it here

First up: Surita's version. She is the designer of this kit.

Second version of this kit is by Ansu:

"I added some of the other little flags from the Wild&Free Collection to this kit. To tell the truth, I lost one of the stripy flags already cut out at our "Paper Play Date" @ the Botanical Gardens last Saturday.  You know those little bits can get away from you sometimes and you need a back-up plan. No big drama. Just replaced them with flags from the collection I had already cut out at home.

I changed the layout a little to fit my photos. Kitty cat is my queenie-cat-princess-baby-extraordinaire!   She has a real lady fur coat but is her momma's tomboy GI-Jane. Roams the garden and the next door bush, comes back with fur all tangled sometimes with half the bush attached. Yesterday she came in with a big black soot stripe over her beautiful white face, like those stripes the boys have across their cheeks when they take of their American Football helmets. Feisty little miss!! Well, that is why she is center stage on this layout. She is about to turn a full two years. Love her so much. She is really a treat and soothes this childless gap in my momma-heart. My family complete with hubby and me on the left, Dad and Mom and Suki (pet name for Surita) on the right.

I didn't use the green frames, but will use them on another layout later. I added some of the little flowers from the Wild&Free collection too. On the large layered flowers I added some glitzies an Vegas gold all purpose ink. I also added dots of Anita's 3D glue to flower centers and lined the sentiment with it as well as the little beez and the camera lenze. I only doubled the pink frame and added some gold diamante around Klouye's (my baby's name) photo. I moved the tag to the bottom left of the orange frame and still need to add my journaling.

On the background before adding all the frames, I used a flower stencil and my pink "cotton candy" Artistry Distress Ink pad from Kcraft that I received as a gift at the Celebr8 event last year. Love those little ink pads cause they have a space to hide your blending foam in and the lids are attached so when you travel with them, your inks are safe. Need to get me more of those. Maybe I'll stock them in our store.

I loved the eaze of this kit. No fuss and so quick."

Third version: Wilna's retro 60's layout for Mother's Day

A while ago we shared Wilna's version she did for Mother's Day. You can read more on her blog here.

Fourth version: Lisa-Marie's lovely single layout

Let's change things totally and just use the elements. See, no rules! Just fun! Play with it! The printable version gives you loads of options as you can re-print it over and over again. Change up your background. Use the frames and other elements as background layers and play around with the flowers too. The sky is the limit.

Finally we have Margie's version.

She has done a wonderfully detailed post on the "How to" from downloading to using this! She even laminated the frames.
You can read her full step by step post here.
We would like to add Margie's "Reasons to try this kit" here. Would love some comments to this post to here what the Paper Lovers out there think.

So what do you think? Reasons to try this kit.
  • It is VERY reasonably priced - cheaper than if you had driven to the store and bought all the papers and elements
  • You have the benefit of being able to print another page if you make a mistake (like I did)
  • You have instant access to a product, especially if you cannot get to a local store

"Precious Moments" Digital Ezee Scrap Kit - Double Layout.

Dear Paper Lovers,

As you may have by now have picked up from our posts and advertising, we believe that creativity is meant for all and should be affordable and accessible. We also believe you don't need a lot of expensive product to make pretty things.

Apart from our Paper collections which we created to specifically meet the local market's need for affordability and quality, we also now launched our Digital Products in our online store. We have various sub-sections under our Digital Products and the first of these we would like to share with you today.

It is a fully printable digital double layout kit called "Precious Moments".

This kit does not include any physical products. You can however be anywhere in the world and still have access to Ivytree Studio designs and products without paying for expensive shipping.

This kit was created with elements from our Wild&Free collection.

Your printable pack includes A4 size printable pages and these elements can be used to create this sketch, but you can also use your imagination and re-use the elements in other ways on cards, OTP's, single layouts, Project Life, your journal pages or in your planner.

The basic sketch included to help you get started:

We gave this kit to our DT member, Wilna Cremer and she has created the most special
layout adapting the sketch to suit her photos and own thumbprint. We just love it.

Her layout celebrates her late mother whom she has lost to cancer. Her layout has a 1960's vintage feel to it and we just love her use of flowers.

Here is a sneak preview:

You can visit Wilna's blog this Sunday on Mother's Day or our visit our blog directly to read the full post and
see the full layout.

In the meantime, you can download the kit from the store here and start to play with it.

We would like to challenge you to use this kit to celebrate this coming Mother's Day.
From layouts, cards, decor, gifts and so on, let's see what can do with it.

As the ideas roll in, we will share it with you. You can also post your projects to our Ivytree Studio Friends group on Facebook. Join here.

About our Digital Products:

1. All our printable products are A4 size so you can print it easily on your home printer or ask your local printers to print it for you.
2. We provide you with an easy to download quality PDF.
3. The standard licence included in all our digital products are "Personal Use only", but once
you have purchased it, you can use it over and over again. All we ask is that you never email any of the digital products or items to any one under any circumstances. You are however welcome to print it out, make something with it and give the finished product (not the digital products) as a gift to someone. This is an honor system but it has legal ramifications if you do not adhere to the Licence of use (Licence included in each product. Please give it a once over when you download the products.)

In some of our digital products, you may find the option for a teacher/retail licence. Please inquire first before you choose this option. This is a more expensive licence and also has its own limitations and guidelines to it.

4. Our digital products, as is the rule of thumb all over the world, is non-refundable, so make sure you purchase what you want. Inquire from us via email or Facebook or a contact form, if you are unsure or need assistance. We will always make sure you get what you paid for.

5. Add on items: We also aim to make it easy for all the various types of crafters:
  • Our digital goodies can be used by scrapbookers, cardmakers, mixed media artists, journallers and planner girls.
  • Those who do not have a fancy cutting machine, can easily fussy cut the elements from printed pages. For those who do have the Silhouette, we have Jpeg images that can easily be imported into the Silhouette software and traced.
  • We are working on adding SVG images as well.

6. Payment options:
  • Payfast or EFT.
  • If you are unsure about using Payfast, please manually select the second payment option "EFT offline basic". This is the normal EFT method. You place your order and make your payment via your usual online banking.
  • Please just note that you have only 24 hours to make the EFT payment before your order is deleted from the store system.

7. Delivery & Downloads:
  • Once your order is updated to "Paid", the store automatically sends you an email with the download links.
  • There is a time limit on the link, so please download as soon as you receive your email.
  • Just note that you will find it easier to download the files using your PC or laptop instead of your mobile device like phone or tablet. Some of the files are large in size and your mobile device may not have sufficient storage and then won't download and you may think the problem is with the link we provide and it is not.
  • If there should arise a technical glitch on our end we will rectify it immediately, so always contact us if you get stuck.

What about international customers who want to purchase our digital goodies?
  • You may use your credit card via Payfast to purchase your item.
  • There is a transaction limit of R5000 or plus minus $350 (US) when using your credit card to pay for digital items, so just keep this in mind.
  • We just had a customer form Namibia this week who successfully purchased, paid for and received her item and she is quite happy with it.

Fly High Sneak preview:

A4 Poster in English and Afrikaans

A4 Butterfly stamp set with double up Matt on separate page in 14 different colors.

This is just one of three planner printables. All three in English and Afrikaans.
You print the Language you need.

Some ideas on how to utilize this printable bundel:
I am currently working on a layout for Mother's day using the butterfly stamp set. I used the dark plum grey coloured butterfly page and printed it onto a Wild&Free floral pattern sheet that I trimmed down to A4 size. It doesn't take a lot of printer ink.  It didn't take me long to fussy cut the full set of butterflies. I love the effect that it looks like a stamped image on to the pattern paper.

My next test was to print it onto white card stock, spray it with fixative/ clear spray and use it as a colour page or to add paint or inks or even sprays to it. The fixative helps that the printer ink doesn't bleed when you use other art mediums on it.

Finally, I will also use the Silhouette to create sticker pages and cut the elements.

Printing tips
A suggestions for the A4 poster page is to set your printer to multiple pages (here you will have to select if you want it to print 2, 4, 6, 9, 16 cards on one page), select the page number and repeat it the amount of times you selected it to print on your page. If you don't repeat the page number it will only print the specific size once, sou you will only get one card on your page and you want multiple copies of it. You can use your various size cards in your planners, journals or give as bookmarks or little encouragements.

What type of paper will my printer be able to print?
That depends on the type of printer you own.
HP printers generally takes up to 160gsm weight cardstock well.
Our Ivytree Elements cardstock goes easily through a printer.

Just note that our 240gsm heavy white and also the black toner cardstock won't probably go through that easy.

Check your own printer manual or ask help online for further help on printing.

Thought of the Day:
"Remember that your thumbprint is unique. God intended it that way. Never compare your work or progress with someone else's. Just compare it to where you started out, where you currently find yourself and where you would like to go with it. Don't give up. Keep moving forward in your art."
